- Overall accountable for the team health, performance, budget and culture
- Directly manage the engineers that develop and innovate our Editor Platform component library and all the services built around it
- Establish mastery, ensure health and overall composition of team
- Nurture, grow and develop engineering talent in the teamInspire, motivate and empower the team
- Embed agile ways of working within the team
- Work on continuous improvement and developer experience, experimenting together with the team on strategies, practices and metrics that will lead them to high performance
- Foster a great culture of technical innovation, performance and quality as well as proactivity, mutual trust and open feedback, working as a team to help each other, help other teams and celebrate success
- Get into the technical detail where required to coach, support and mentor the team
- Work alongside the Product Manager to deliver the Editor Platform strategic objectives and roadmap
- Work alongside the Principal Engineer to ensure technical excellence and seize technology opportunities
- Ensure product roadmap features and technical health grow together with the right balance
- Lead by example by owning all you do, giving your best, embracing curiosity as well as acting with heart and finding the joy in building amazing software for our customers
- You will join a dynamic and fast-paced environment, working alongside one Product Manager and one team Principal Engineer
- You will work closely together with the other Creation teams Engineering Managers, Product Managers, Principal Engineers and Product Designers to deliver on our domain strategy and goals.
- You will work with the Creation Domain leadership on our strategy as well as on broader Product, Technology and people topics
- You will interact with many other P&T domains as well as many other company stakeholders and as such, exceptional communication and collaboration skills are essential
- 7+ years of experience in a B2C web technology environment with 3+ years of experience in an Engineering Manager role or equivalent
- Proven and demonstrated track record of leading technical teams
- Knowledge of growing teams and/or organisations
- Be both highly technical and an effective people manager in a domain focused on web technologies
- Strong work ethic; self-directed and resourceful
- Solution-oriented and result-driven, analytical skills and data-driven mindset
- Strong executional skills - an ability to summarise and abstract from information, to break a problem into its component parts, to prioritise by value, to efficiently manage a meeting, to make and defend decisions, to make hard trade-offs and to say no;
- Proven track record of proactive communication and leadership to effectively manage cross-functional teams and stakeholders
- Proven track record of optimising agile development methodologies to improve the effectiveness of digital project teams
- You are respected for your proactive communication, which prevents your teams from becoming siloed from other teams and functions across the organisation.
- You have a lot of experiences (good and bad) of working with agile practices in digital product teams.
- You know that one size does not fit all but have a range of ideas and processes that may help.
- You are able to understand complex technical problems as well as empathise strongly with customers.
- Fluent in English.
