Mechanical Engineering Internship: Design an indestructible aperture for 1um beampath
- Veldhoven, Noord-Brabant
- Training
- Voltijds
If there were apertures that would not be damaged during a hit, the availability of the system would be improved, which will have a positive effect on the costs of using the ASML scanner.
In addition, there is a high probability that coating on 1um optics will be damaged as a result of a damaged aperture, so-called collateral damage, which only increases the costs during an incident. The objective of this assignment is to find possible principles to get to an indestructible aperture for 1um as well as 10um wave length and to translate these possible principles into feasible implementations. The main deliverables for this internship are- Make an inventory of patents, common industrial solutions and investigations already done by ASML colleagues in the past years and gather this documentation properly.
- From the investigation select best principle that could serve both wave lengths and make a design only for the 1um wave length that is SIL-3 compliant.
- Build a test setup to validate the design.
- Make a test analysis report.Education and experience- Education: Master Graduation thesis level- CAD experience and precision mechanics is preferred. Manufacturing knowledge is helpful and must be able to use standard hand tools to put together the test setup.Skills- Precision engineering, mechanical engineering, physics, basic electronics
- Multi disciplinary view is a must (Laser physics, LIDT, light/matter interaction, material knowledge, optics)
- Optomechanical knowledge is a preferred
- Knowledge of Construction Principles- Solution oriented, communicative; hands-on mentality is requiredOther information- 5 days per week- No non-EU students; students supposed to study in proximity to Eindhoven since frequent on-site work is neededThis position requires access to controlled technology, as defined in the United States Export Administration Regulations (15 C.F.R. § 730, et seq.). Qualified candidates must be legally authorized to access such controlled technology prior to beginning work. Business demands may require ASML to proceed with candidates who are immediately eligible to access controlled technology.Diversity and inclusionASML is an Equal Opportunity Employer that values and respects the importance of a diverse and inclusive workforce.
