Where no two days are the same.YOUR ROLEAs a SCADA Technical Specialist at Capgemini Engineering, you will play a pivotal role in addressing one of Europe's most urgent infrastructure challenges: the digital transformation of the energy grid. Think of the recent massive blackout across Spain, Portugal, and parts of southern France, paralyzing households, transportation, emergency services, and communications. Or the ongoing grid congestion in the Netherlands where new housing and business developments have been halted due to lack of grid capacity. This underscores the critical need for smarter, more resilient grid systems.In this role, you'll contribute directly to building those systems, working on high-impact projects across the energy value chain-from supporting offshore wind integration to enabling real-time control for TSO's & DSO's.In this role, you will:
  • Configure and maintain on-premise and cloud-based SCADA systems to meet specific requirements, including change management systems such as AspenTech/OSI Monarch.
  • Lead integration efforts between SCADA, EMS, DCS, and DERMS platforms, enabling seamless IT/OT convergence and enhanced situational awareness
  • Troubleshoot and resolve issues related to SCADA systems, ensuring continuous operation and performance.
  • Design and implement system enhancements and upgrades for SCADA and other systems to improve functionality.
  • Provide technical mentorship and training to end-users and junior engineers.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams on projects such as:
  • Real-time curtailment and forecasting for offshore wind farms.
  • ADMS deployment for autonomous fault detection and restoration in urban distribution networks.
  • Grid modernization programs involving legacy system integration, cybersecurity hardening, and DERMS rollout.
YOUR PROFILEYou are a systems thinker with a passion for digital innovation in the energy sector. You thrive in complex environments where technology, regulation, and sustainability intersect.You bring:
  • A degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or related field.
  • Strong knowledge of SCADA, EMS, DCS, and communication protocols such as IEC60870-5-101/104, IEC61850, OPC UA, MQTT, and Kafka.
  • Familiarity with smart grid challenges such as:
  • Limited visibility in low-voltage networks.
  • Integration of EVs, heat pumps, and home energy systems.
  • Cybersecurity risks in OT environments.
  • Strong analytical and communication skills, with the ability to translate technical complexity into actionable insights.
  • A collaborative mindset and the flexibility to work across domains.
