Location: Vlissingen • Start: immediate • Duration: 12 months •
The role
You enable the yard to build. For a military newbuild project, we’re looking for a Hull Engineer/Designer to develop foundation drawings and fabrication details in CATIA (learning on the job is fine). It’s precision work: 3D integration, 2D deliverables, everything correct for production and class.
What you’ll do
- Create 3D models and 2D drawings of foundations, supports, lugs, penetrations, and equipment seats in the hull.
- Add fabrication details: plate thicknesses, weld prep, tolerances, material specs, coating systems, BOMs.
- Integrate within the hull/structures environment; resolve clashes and process revisions.
- Release fabrication packages to the shop floor and align with work preparation, production, and—where needed—the classification society.
- Ensure a clear markup/review cycle through to “for fabrication.”
- MBO/HBO in Naval Architecture or Mechanical Engineering (or equivalent).
- Experience in hull/structure engineering for shipbuilding (yard experience is a plus).
- CATIA V5/V6 (or willingness to pick it up quickly). Experience with similar CAD (NX/Inventor/SolidWorks) is applicable.
- Accurate, production-minded, solid understanding of platework and welding.
- English; reading/writing skills.
- Basic class requirements (DNV/Bureau Veritas) and military standards.
