- Deep understanding of brownfield complexity, legacy migration, and hybrid landscapes.
- Proficiency in modeling (C4, UML, BPMN) and communication via diagrams.
- Modern Engineering Practices
- API-driven, event-driven, microservices-based and cloud-native design.
- Architecting with security and customer privacy in mind.
- Working in Agile (SCRUM/Kanban) environments without being dogmatic.
- Comfortable with decentralized decision-making and emergent design.
- Architecture governance is pragmatic, not bureaucratic focused on enabling flow, not friction.
- Experienced in iterative development, MVP thinking, and evolutionary architecture.
- Cloud and Infrastructure Knowledge
- Experience designing on hyperscalers like Azure, AWS, or GCP.
- Familiarity with networking, infrastructure, and cloud-native tooling, infrastructure, and cloud-native tooling.
- Comfortable collaborating on deep cloud topics with platform engineers.
- You have excellent communication skills and are fluent in English. Additionally, we would like it if you speak Dutch or are willing to learn.
- You are excited about RTL, media, journalism, or their role in society.
- You thrive in a bilingual environment where Dutch and English go hand in hand. Therefore, speaking Dutch is a plus, but being willing to learn it is equally appreciated. Of course, RTL will support you with Dutch classes if needed.

- Define the Domain Blueprint and guard its integrity through change.
- Design architectures that are modular, scalable, resilient, and interoperable.
- Ensure architectural standards and best practices are applied effectively while being adaptable to context.
- Collaborate, align, define common goals and have deep debates and possibly disagreements, find the right balance between short- and long-term technology and product goals with Product Owners and Tech Leads.
- Engage with internal business stakeholders and work within a co-innovation model with vendors, ensuring partnerships drive RTL’s goals.
