We are seeking a highly skilled and strategic Staff Platform Engineer to lead our organization's cloud computing strategy. As a pivotal member of our technology leadership, you will be responsible for the high-level design, architecture, and successful implementation of our cloud infrastructure and services across a multi-cloud landscape. This role requires a deep understanding of cloud technologies, financial services, and the ability to drive innovation while ensuring the highest levels of security, performance, and availability for our mission-critical trading systems.As our Staff Platform Engineer, you will act as a key consultant and subject matter expert for the entire organization, providing strategic guidance and hands-on leadership to ensure our cloud adoption initiatives are successful, secure, and aligned with our business objectives.   • Develop, articulate, and oversee the company's comprehensive cloud strategy, encompassing public (AWS, GCP) and private cloud environments to support a fast-paced, 24/7 trading operation
  • Design robust, scalable, and secure cloud environments that meet the stringent low-latency, high-availability, and compliance requirements of the financial markets
  • Provide oversight and architectural governance for all cloud deployments
  • Provide expert leadership and mentorship on cloud-related projects, guiding engineering teams (DevOps, SRE, and Development) on best practices for building and running applications in the cloud
  • Act as the primary technical consultant to the organization on all cloud matters
  • Collaborate with business leaders, engineering teams, and security and compliance departments to translate business requirements into technical solutions
  • Serve as a key stakeholder in the evaluation, validation, and selection of new cloud services, third-party SaaS solutions, and related technologies to ensure they align with architectural standards and business needs
  • Establish and enforce cloud governance frameworks, policies, and standards
  • Implement strategies for cloud cost optimization and resource management across all providers
  • Work closely with the security team to integrate and enforce security best practices within the cloud architecture, ensuring compliance with financial industry regulations (e.g., FINRA, FCA, MiFID II)
  • Drive successful cloud adoption across the organization by championing the benefits of cloud technologies, leading proof-of-concept initiatives, and creating roadmaps for migrating legacy workloads
What you will need to succeed
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Information Technology, or equivalent professional experience is required
  • 8+ years of hands-on experience in senior roles such as DevOps Engineer, Site Reliability Engineer, or Cloud Engineer, with a proven track record of designing and managing complex, large-scale environments is required
  • Expert-level knowledge and demonstrable experience with at least two of our primary public cloud providers: AWS, GCP, or Alibaba Cloud is required
  • One or more relevant professional-level industry certifications, such as AWS Certified Solutions Architect - Professional or Google Cloud Professional Cloud Architect is required
  • Proven experience designing and managing multi-cloud and hybrid-cloud environments
  • Deep expertise in Infrastructure as Code (IaC) using tools like Terraform, CloudFormation, or Ansible
  • Strong understanding of modern containerization and orchestration technologies (e.g., Kubernetes, K3s, Docker)
  • Expertise in cloud networking concepts (VPCs, subnets, routing, direct connections, load balancing) and security (IAM, security groups, encryption)
  • Experience with designing for high availability, disaster recovery, and business continuity in a cloud context
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to articulate complex technical concepts to both technical and non-technical stakeholders
  • Significant experience working within the financial services industry (e.g., trading, fintech, banking), with a strong understanding of its unique technical and regulatory challenges
  • Strong strategic thinking and problem-solving skills, with an ability to create a long-term vision and execute it
