As an Associate Director Structural Engineering & BIM within Maritime & Renewables, you are responsible for a team of highly skilled maritime structural engineers and BIM modellers. The team has about 20 staff, all based in the Netherlands, focussing on the design of maritime structures such as quay walls, jetties, locks and weirs.What you will doYou will work closely with the two Associate Directors of adjacent teams in NL of geotechnical engineers and maritime project managers to jointly develop maritime design projects. You are specifically responsible for driving the improvement and innovation of our design processes to maintain our leading position in the market.You will also have a strong collaboration with our international offices such as the UK and Vietnam. While the team has a strong base and workload in the Netherlands, most of the projects are international and our design methods are implemented worldwide.The focus of your role will be to:
  • Ensure the quality of our work and strong project delivery. In some projects, you will be part of the project team as expert or technical/project manager.
  • Steer, implement and inspire standardisation, automation and innovation, including digital tooling and BIM.
  • Enable the growth and vitality of the team. Proactively recruit and retain talent and stimulate a culture of continuous learning and development.
  • Support personal development of staff combing individual development goals and perspectives with the team and broader business needs.
  • Maintain a healthy workload for the team, balancing commercial targets with individual staff needs.
  • Encourage active and innovative project contributions in line with Enhancing Society Together, such as safety in design, resource circularity and GHG emissions.

In your role, you work closely with the 7 other Associate Directors in the Management Team.What you bringYou are a trustworthy and inspiring person who maximizes the team's expertise and talents. You have excellent communication, organisational and digital skills. You support innovations and proposals to improve our way of working.Furthermore you:
  • Hold a MSc or BSc degree, preferably in fields related to civil or structural engineering
  • Have a minimum of 5 years’ experience in structural design projects. Experience in civil infrastructure and/or maritime design projects is an advantage.
  • Are fluent in English. Dutch language capability is an advantage.
  • Are able and willing to work in our offices in Delft and Amersfoort.
