We are looking for a Project & Country HSE Specialist to join our Team in Rotterdam.The Project & Country HSE Specialist is responsible for ensuring the effective implementation of Health, Safety, and Environment (HSE) policies and practices across both project sites and country-level operations. This hybrid role combines hands-on project execution support with strategic oversight of national HSE compliance, culture, and performance. The role requires collaboration with project teams, business units, and external stakeholders to foster a world-class safety culture and ensure regulatory compliance.Key ResponsibilitiesProject-Level ResponsibilitiesAct as the HSE focal point during all phases of project execution, including site preparation, installation, and commissioningReview project scopes, tenders, HSE plans, and subcontractor qualificationsConduct site visits and audits to evaluate HSE effectiveness and close execution gapsLead incident investigations and root-cause analysis, ensuring corrective actions are implementedSupport development of Activity-Based Risk Assessment ABRAMaintain HSE records and present progress reportsCoordinate ISO 14001, ISO 45001, Safety Culture Certification audit programsProvide HSE training and support to project teamsCountry-Level ResponsibilitiesEnsure national compliance with HSE regulations and fiduciary dutiesLead the development and implementation of HSE policies and practicesRepresent the company in HSE matters with authorities, clients, and external auditors.Drive behavioral change and continuous improvement through training and performance programsFacilitate risk management processes and escalate emerging risksMonitor and report on key performance indicators (LTIFR, TRIFR, incident closure rates)Ensure emergency response plans are in place and tailored to business location.QualificationsEducationBachelor’s degree in HSE or related fieldPostgraduate studies in HSE/OHS (Hogere Veiligheidskunde niveau 1 (HVK))ExperienceMinimum 8 years of professional HSE experience (project role)Experience in construction and electrical safety, including high-voltage environmentsCertificationsProfessional safety certification (e.g., VCA ) preferredSkills & CompetenciesStrong leadership, communication, and influencing skillsKnowledge of local and international HSE regulationsChange management and mentoring capabilitiesHigh comfort level with digital tools and management systemsCreativity, innovation, and goal orientationFluent in English and Dutch (spoken and written)Qualified individuals with a disability may request a reasonable accommodation if you are unable or limited in your ability to use or access the Hitachi Energy career site as a result of your disability.
