Then we would love to have you join us!The RoleThe Lab Safety team is part of the Lab Compliance group within Quality Management and Global Lab Management. We prioritize safety and compliance throughout the entire process of bringing medicines to patients, maintaining the highest standards of laboratory safety in line with Occupational Health and Safety regulations.In this role, you will support the Lab Safety Manager by regularly conducting lab inspections, identifying potential hazards, and ensuring compliance. You will deliver hands-on training in safe equipment operation and hazardous material handling, act as a mentor to Lab Safety Assistants, and address day-to-day safety issues. The successful candidate has a proactive approach, at least three years of practical lab experience, expertise in safety protocols, training delivery, and a passion for fostering a strong safety culture!Responsibilities
  • Serve as a point-of-contact, providing support and instructions to employees on safety related topics.
  • Respond to spills and incidents in the lab, in absence of the Lab Safety Manager.
  • Follow-up on near misses and incidents reported in our safety App, determining root causes and making recommendations to prevent reoccurrence.
  • Inspect laboratories and monitors personnel activities to identify safety issues or non-conformities.
  • Take part in organizing the yearly Safe and Sound week.
  • Maintain accurate records of safety audits, investigations, chemical storage and safety trainings.
  • Co-develop and deliver safety-related meetings and training programs to employees.
  • Co-manage the Lab Safety Assistants in achieving the team’s objectives.
  • Provide support with risk assessments of lab-related subjects such as lab design, chemicals and new equipment.
Requirements
  • You have obtained a Bachelor of Science.
  • You have at least 3 years of experience in a previous position in a lab environment or similar. Please note that candidates with a PhD are considered overqualified for this hands-on role.
  • Proven experience in lab safety management, chemical safety, or a related safety role is a plus.
  • Ability to deliver safety training programs for laboratory personnel.
  • Enthusiastic and motivated to improve safety in a company and have a high safety standard.
  • Strong problem-solving and decision-making skills with a proactive approach to safety improvements.
  • You are approachable, goal-orientated and independent, with an eye for details.
  • Good communication skills in Dutch and English and ability to engage with diverse stakeholders across R&D.
