Keep reading on!Job title: Senior Financial ControllerLocation: Only considering applications-based in Breda, NetherlandsLanguage: English FluentWork-type: On-sightTerms: Contractor (6 month contract > 12 month contract > Permanent)TasksYour North StarThe Financial Controller’s primary objective is to maintain the financial health and integrity of the company through rigorous accounting practices, internal controls, and compliance with relevant standards. In a SaaS context, this means ensuring accurate revenue recognition, managing audits, overseeing tax filings, and delivering reliable financial statements on time. The Controller safeguards the company’s fiscal operations while also building scalable processes as the business grows. Their North Star metrics revolve around accuracy, speed, and control — such as the number of days to close the books, audit readiness (including clean audit reports), and precision in revenue recognition for subscription revenue. By anchoring their work in these metrics, the Controller ensures that financial reporting is trustworthy, audit processes are smooth, and regulatory risks are minimized.Day in the life of a Senior Financial Controller
  • Lead all accounting operations: general ledger, AR/AP, payroll, and fixed assets
  • Manage the monthly, quarterly, and annual financial close process
  • Ensure compliance with relevant finance and taxation laws and manage internal controls
  • Oversee subscription revenue recognition, billing accuracy, and deferred revenue
  • Coordinate with external auditors and manage audit readiness
  • Implement and maintain financial policies, controls, and procedures
  • Oversee tax filings, compliance reports, and liaise with external advisors
  • Partner with the Head of Finance on cash flow management, treasury, and strategic finance
  • Mentor and develop the accounting team; contribute to finance systems improvements
Requirements
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance; CPA preferred
  • 7+ years of experience in accounting/finance, including 2+ years in SaaS
  • Deep understanding of revenue recognition
  • Experience managing audits and implementing financial controls
  • Strong working knowledge of ERP and billing platforms
