Job DescriptionAs Executive Finance Director, you are all about leading and optimizing the key accounting, tax & compliance functions of the organisation. You ensure financial integrity, operational excellence, and strategic alignment across all finance domains. You are curious to make (tech) change happen and thrive in a fast-paced environment while building strong teams and scalable processes.YOUR ACCOUNTABILITIES:As all finance functions are centralized, you will lead the following centrally organized teams at our headquarters in Amsterdam (c. 70 FTEs): Financial Control, Finance Operations, Tax, Treasury, Payroll, Internal Control & Risk and Finance Development. As member of the Executive Leadership Team, you report directly to the CFO and act as a strategic partner to the broader leadership team.
  • Financial Control: Ensure accurate and timely financial reporting for all our
30 legal entities globally, audit readiness, and compliance with accounting standards. * Finance Operations: Oversee high-volume transactional processes including invoice processing and payment cycles.
  • Tax: Lead global tax strategy, compliance (e.g. VAT, CIT, Pillar 2), and risk management.
  • Treasury: Manage cash flow, banking relationships, and financial risk exposure.
  • Payroll: Ensure accurate and compliant payroll processing globally
  • Internal Control & Risk: Strengthen the internal control framework and lead risk mitigation initiatives. Prepare for CSRD reporting.
  • Finance Development: Champion process optimization, system enhancements, and drive continuous improvements.
This role is based at our Amsterdam HQ (city center). Although the role will require occasional international travel, strong on-site presence is expected to build meaningful connections and lead effectively, therefore living within 1 hour's travel time of Amsterdam is a strong preference.YOUR ENVIRONMENTRetail consists of company-owned stores and franchisees that are spread across 33 countries. In 2024, there were 1,296 stores. The net turnover in 2024 was EUR 1,524 million. We currently open a new store every other day!Also, Digital presence plays a significant role in our omnichannel approach and is of key strategic importance to offer our customers seamless experience when purchasing our products. During 2024 the growth was 17% and net turnover amounted to EUR 308 million in 2024.Rituals' products can further be found in wholesale locations around the world. In total, there are more than 4,000 Rituals points of sale within our wholesale channel. Net turnover increased to EUR 204 million in 2024.QualificationsYou are a natural leader who inspires trust and drives results. You love working with people and numbers, and you're not afraid to roll up your sleeves. You are curious, pragmatic, humble and always looking for ways to improve. You bring clarity in complexity and energy in ambiguity. On top of this:
  • Proven experience (
10 years) in senior finance leadership roles within international organizations with preference for Retail. * Master's in economics or business administration and RA / CPA.
  • Strong knowledge of financial operations, tax, treasury, and compliance frameworks.
  • Key skills include clear people management and coaching and active listening, understanding stakeholder needs and motivations, and adapting your influencing approach.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead transformation and change in complex environments.
  • Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills.
  • Fluent in English; Dutch is a plus.
