- Perform customs classifications for our entire range of products and parts thereof, ensuring proper substantiation of these classifications.
- Provide day-to-day operational classification support for upcoming shipments.
- Willing to learn determination of the origin of our products and parts.
- Maintain and improve the master classification database.
- Support ongoing development of the Customs process, procedures, internal controls, and analytics that will contribute to the ongoing compliance management to ensure legal requirements with Customs authorities are met.
- Responsible for ensuring resolution of various inquiries and requests from service providers (e.g. Brokers, Freight Forwarders, etc.) and clients, to resolve global issues associated with HTS and ECCN classification.
- Responsible for customs and trade operations support in EMEIA locations.
- Create and maintain the 100% recordkeeping master file.
- Reconcile the recordkeeping for completeness. Follow up with the internal and external stakeholder if required.
- Identify and implement improvements that will smoothen our processes and increase compliance.
- Perform pre- or post-entry audits related to entry declaration, forwarders/ brokers, other logistics service providers and suppliers. Follow up with appropriate corrective action and make corrections when non-compliance is identified. Responsible for Post Entry Amendment program.
- Publish the Key Performance indicator (KPI) & support broker KPI.
- Assist with special projects including country of origin, HTS classification for new product launch.
- Collect, compile, and analyze data and provide summaries and observations to the manager.
- Performs other duties, tasks, or responsibilities as assigned.
- Proficiency in data gathering, quantitative and qualitative data analysis, and linking business
- Interact with IT and Center of Excellence (COE) to streamline and improve import/ export data for compliance; provide justification, business requirements, development, and assist with testing and solutions implementation.
- Minimum 3 years of experience in trade & customs compliance experience is preferred.
- Master's degree in international trade or similar.
- Licensed Customs Broker or similar professional trade certifications.
- Proficient in English language - verbal and written.
- Detail-oriented and highly organized.
- Direct experience and knowledge of Trade Compliance principles (HTS classification, customs valuation, incoterms, license and permits, country of origin)
- Experience managing Logistics Service Providers and/or Compliance Consultants.
- Strong analytical skills, critical thinking, and problem solving.
- Ability to multi-task with strong prioritization skills to effectively manage workload.
- Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to effectively work in a team environment.
- Work effectively both independently and collaboratively.
- Proficient in the use of Microsoft Suite (excel, word, PowerPoint, Visio)
- Demonstrated ability to deliver creative and practical solutions to solve logistics and trade compliance issues.
- Excellent communication skills, verbal and written.
- Excellent time management skills.
- Some business travel (~10%) will be required.
- Ability to manage multiple cross-functional and cross-organizational projects.
- Harmonized tariff classification working knowledge must have.
- Willingness to learn the substance of the work associated with the Global Logistics Compliance to provide superior support.
- Work experience with customs brokers or freight forwarders.
- Experience in SAP S4/ HANA and related transactional and outputs are preferred but not mandatory.
- Eager to learn and perform other task, which needs to be run the regions smoothly.
- Understanding and experience with the medical device industry.
