Are you a Manufacturing Tooling Engineer who enjoys designing smart tools that improve safety and precision? Do you like working hands-on, from concept to finished equipment? If so, we have an exciting opportunity for you in the Netherlands!FunctieAs Manufacturing Tooling Engineer you will be responsible for designing and developing specialized tooling and equipment that enable the safe, efficient, and precise handling and positioning of ship sections and complex components. From concept through fabrication and implementation, you will be involved in the full lifecycle of tooling development, providing essential technical support during critical operations. While heavy lifting is part of the scope, your focus will be on the engineering behind the tools that make these operations possible.Specific duties in this role include:
  • Designing and calculating hoisting and lifting plans, including transport and lifting drawings for sections, rings, and modules.
  • Developing and engineering specialized tools, frames, jigs, and alignment systems for ship section handling and positioning.
  • Preparing detailed technical drawings, calculations, and instructions for fabrication and operational use.
  • Conducting risk assessments (RI&E) and ensuring compliance with safety standards.
  • Collaborating with procurement, production, and internal/external stakeholders to meet operational requirements.
  • Supporting and validating tooling performance during hoisting and transport operations.
  • Working closely with structural engineers, manufacturing teams, and production staff to integrate tooling solutions into broader workflows.
VoorwaardenFor the Manufacturing Tooling Engineer position, we are looking for candidates with previous mechanical design expertise and a proven ability to support complex engineering operations, ideally in shipbuilding or heavy industry.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or Shipbuilding.
  • Affinity with mechanical tooling development, operational support, and risk/safety engineering.
  • Experience in planning and coordinating engineering activities in complex industrial settings.
  • Strong command of both English, both written and oral. Speaking Dutch is a strong asset.
