With a strong focus on flexibility and continuous improvement, we are committed to delivering high-quality systems that perfectly align with our customers’ needs.To support our continued growth and success, we are looking for a:Global Trade Compliance Director.As the Global Trade Compliance Director., you are responsible for ensuring and expanding the customs, import, and export functions within Vanderlande, as well as ensuring compliance with all customs regulations, while maintaining a commercial perspective.You will be responsible for:
- Leading, coaching, and developing regional customs managers, and overseeing global customs & trade compliance processes within a growing international organization.
- Further professionalizing and securing a robust international compliance framework for our global customs organization and operations.
- Implementing the global customs strategy within Vanderlande and ensuring consistent local application.
- Designing, optimizing, and maintaining internal procedures and manuals for customs compliance (specifically regarding the correct classification of the product portfolio).
- Actively working towards close collaboration with other departments (including Tax, Legal & Compliance, Procurement, Routing & Forwarding, and Engineering) to achieve process optimizations.
- Identifying and pragmatically solving the specific challenges associated with a rapidly growing and changing company.
- Proactively advising and supporting senior management in strategic business decisions related to customs.
- Coordinating global training and awareness programs focused on relevant customs topics.
- Building, maintaining, and expanding strong working relationships with internal stakeholders, (tax) authorities, and external advisors (stakeholder management).
- Proactively advising other locations and departments on relevant legislative changes, including updates on taxes and import duties.
- Managing and monitoring customs brokers and other involved logistics parties.
- At least a university-level education or equivalent working and thinking level.
- A minimum of 10 years of experience in customs management, preferably combined with a background at a major consultancy firm.
- Extensive knowledge of customs legislation (particularly classification and customs valuation) and international trade regulations.
- Ability to independently develop solutions aligned with functional objectives.
