
Electronics Internship: Design and Development of a Custom FPGA Devkit for In-House Hardware Applications

- Define requirements for the devkit based on internal use cases.
- Select components (e.g., memory, power management, connectors, sensors) commonly used in company projects.
- Design schematics and PCB layout using industry-standard tools (e.g., KiCad).
- Collaborate with firmware engineers to ensure compatibility and usability.
- Order and assemble prototype boards.
- Perform bring-up and validation of the devkit.
- Create documentation and usage guidelines for internal teams.
- Learn the process of designing custom FPGA-based hardware.
- Understand component selection and integration for embedded systems.
- Gain experience with PCB design tools and hardware validation.
- Contribute to the company’s internal hardware development infrastructure.
- Have experience with schematic capture and PCB layout tools (e.g., KiCad).
- Have an understanding of embedded components like memory, power ICs, and connectors.
- Demonstrate skills in prototype bring-up, testing, and debugging.
- Have the ability to work with firmware engineers to ensure hardware compatibility.
- You are enrolled at an educational institute for the entire duration of the internship;
- You need to be located in the Netherlands to be perform your internship. In case you ‘re currently living/studying outside of the Netherlands, your CV/motivation letter includes the willingness to relocate.
- If you are a non-EU citizen, studying in the Netherlands, your university is willing to sign the documents relevant for doing an internship (i.e., Nuffic agreement).
