The Court is participating in the global fight to end impunity, and through international criminal justice, the Court aims to hold those responsible accountable for their crimes and to help prevent the crimes from happening again. You can contribute to this cause by joining the ICC.Organisational ContextThe Independent Oversight Mechanism (IOM) is a subsidiary body of the Assembly of States Parties to the Rome Statute, established in accordance with article 112, paragraph 4, of the Rome Statute. The purpose of the IOM is to provide comprehensive oversight of the Court through the conduct of internal administrative investigations, evaluations and inspections in order to enhance its efficiency and economy. The IOM exercises complete operational independence in the fulfilment of its mandate and reports to the Assembly. The IOM's investigation mandate ensures that allegations of unsatisfactory conduct are investigated thoroughly and impartially, protecting the interests of the Court and upholding the rights and obligations of Court personnel. The evaluation mandate assesses the relevance, effectiveness, efficiency and impact and sustainability of the Court's activities, contributing to organisational learning and accountability. Finally, through inspections, the IOM examines the operational and administrative performance of the Court activities ensuring compliance with established standards.This internship offers a unique opportunity to gain hands-on experience in research, public information, and community outreach within the context of international criminal justice. The Intern will work in close collaboration with IOM staff and provide timely support and contribution to the implementation of the different communication and outreach projects assigned.Duties and Responsibilities * Assist with and contributing ideas for producing public information products such as fact sheets, newsletters and presentations.
Support the IOM staff in various tasks related to strategic communications, and outreach to raise the visibility of IOMs work among key stakeholders.
Assist with tasks related to graphic design, such as creation of infographics, and other visual aids.
Assist in drafting and editing content for public information materials, such as fact sheets, newsletter, brochures, and presentations.
Support research, creation and uploading of content on IOM intranet and website.
Perform any other tasks assigned.
Required QualificationsEducation: All candidates must have a relevant degree or be in the final stages of their studies at a recognised university. Candidates are expected to have a very good record of academic performance.Experience:Internship placements focus on candidates in the early stages of their professional careers. Practical experience is not an essential prerequisite for selection. Should there be a practical experience that is relevant to the work of the Court, it may be considered an asset. Applicants must have less than three years of relevant full-time professional experience to be considered for an internship.Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Ability to adapt to multicultural and multilingual working environments.
Strong teamwork skills (listen, consult and communicate proactively).
Good standard of computer skills (including Microsoft Office applications).
Knowledge of Languages:Proficiency in one of the working languages of the Court, English or French, is required. Working knowledge of the other is desirable. Knowledge of another official language of the Court (Arabic, Chinese, Russian and Spanish) is an asset.Other criteria:It is the Court's objective to have diversity and gender balance.
